Melbourne Sports Centres (MSC) comprise three of Victoria’s premier sporting facilities. Each site is unique and provides a variety of employment and placement opportunities within a sporting environment. Being your best is our business.   1. Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC) – Home to our world-class aquatic facilities available for professional and amateur training, personal aquatic fitness, competitions and recovery. MSAC offers a variety of state-of-the-art sports stadiums, courts, health and fitness facilities and function spaces.
  2. Lakeside Stadium – International standard running track and field event facilities, athletics warm up areas, FIFA-sized soccer pitch, home to the Victorian Institute of Sport and function spaces available for hire.
  3. Parkville (previously known as the State Netball and Hockey Centre) – Premium courts and fields to host high-performance and community sports including netball, hockey (indoor and outdoor), basketball, taekwondo and gymnastics. Parkville has a strong focus on women to drive change and grow female leadership in sport.

Childrens Programs Officer

Provide safe and encouraging experiences for children of all ages and abilities. The role requires a high level of energy, focus on safety, strong communication skills and ability to instruct clearly. Key tasks include meet and greet, setup, use and pack down of equipment as well as responding to any incidents and injuries.

Childrens Program supervisor

Responsible for leading and supporting program staff, ensuring all operations run seamlessly. The role is to coordinate, assist, ensure compliance and deliver programs in a safe environment that result in positive experiences. Key roles include set up and pack down, facilitating staff breaks, program safety, reporting and being the point of escalation during program operation.

Customer Service Officer

Day to day serving of customers providing high quality customer service through face to face, phone and email. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage and service customers from a variety of demographics. The Customer Service Officer is the main contact for enquiries and must have a broad knowledge of the facility and services, with ability to problem solve and identify solutions to assist customers.

Customer service Supervisor

Responsible for leading the Customer Service team on shift. The role supports the Customer Service team with serving of customers, as well as being an escalation point for any issues that arise during the shift. The Customer Service Supervisor delegates roles and tasks to members of the customer service team, organises each shift, completes reporting and financial reconciliation at the conclusion of each shift.

Food & beverage Attendant

Day to day operation of food and beverage outlets. As a customer facing role, ability to engage and service customers is imperative. Tasks include taking orders, producing coffee, general food handling and processing payments.

Food & Beverage supervisor

Responsible for leading and supporting all Food & Beverage Attendants on shift. The role completes all functions of the Food & Beverage Attendant, with additional responsibilities such as stock control, reporting and financial reconciliation.

Group fitness instructor

Group fitness instructors are responsible for conducting classes for our members. The group fitness timetable consists of over 130 classes each week including aqua, boxing, cycle, HIIT, Pilates, yoga and much more.

Gym floor instructor

Responsible for the day to day operations of the gym space and safety of this environment. This includes but is not limited to exercise and program prescription, health assessments, gym floor supervision and overseeing gym challenges.

Lifeguard

Responsible for the general supervision and safety of patrons in the aquatic area by preventing and responding to emergencies. Acting immediately providing in water rescues, first aid and emergency treatment as required. Key tasks include, set up and pack down of aquatic areas, pool supervision, enforcing aquatic rules and regulations, organising lane bookings and strong knowledge of aquatic environment.

Lifeguard supervisor

Responsible for managing and supporting the lifeguards on duty, being the key point of contact for issues which arise in the aquatic area. The supervisor delegates tasks to lifeguards, organises breaks and covers lifeguard rotations. The lifeguard supervisor possesses plant room knowledge, completes chemicals dosing, water testing, documenting and escalating if there are any issues.

Personal trainer

Personal trainers offer a supportive experience while challenging and motivating clients to keep working hard. Our personal training services are designed to accommodate to both one on one, as well as semi-private group sessions.

Swim school instructor

Responsible for providing a customer focused service that will develop the patrons swimming ability in a fun and positive learning environment. Tasks include instructing and assessing water familiarisation, buoyancy and mobility skills in line with MSAC curriculum for the learn to swim program, infant aquatics and schools swim program.

Swim school supervisor

Responsible for the development and implementation of high quality, customer focused, safe and efficient swim school programs. These include MSAC learn to swim program, squads, infant aquatics and schools swim program. Roles of the position include being an On-Deck Supervisor, a Customer Services Administrator and a Swimming Instructor.

Work Placement

We recognise and understand the importance of work placement and the benefit it provides to you and to us. Industry experience is a great way to develop your skills, expand your network and strengthen your career prospects.

A number of opportunities are available ranging from day to day operations; hosting major events to working with our stakeholders in national and state sporting associations. These can be arranged to a regular schedule i.e. a particular day and time each week or specific to an event or holiday period.

You will have the chance to try out a career you’ve been considering, and you’ll have opportunities to try different skills, tour our facilities and see what our jobs are really all about. There is nothing like seeing it for yourself!

Potential placement areas include:

events & bookings

This team takes care of the event/function bookings and sales for our venues and includes the wider team who deliver our events. Setup and delivery throughout an event is an extensive process and involves a wide variety of tasks including preparing the facility, supporting staff during an event, ticketing, supporting the event holder to ensure a smooth event and post event pack down.

food & beverage

As a customer facing role, ability to engage and service customers is imperative. Tasks include taking orders, producing coffee, general food handling and processing payments at our onsite cafés, functions and events.

customer experience

Our customer service team are the initial contact our customers have upon entry to our venues, delivering services face to face, via phone and email. Customer Service Officers are the main contact for enquiries and must have a broad knowledge of our facilities and services. This will include problem solving and identifying solutions to assist customers with check in, general questions and casual/member bookings.

Aquatics

A lot goes on behind the scenes of a swimming pool including bookings, timetables and general day to day operations. With an unparalleled aquatics space, there are many opportunities to assist our swim school or lifeguard team with administrative duties.
