Swimming

Swimming

Swimming is a fun and relaxing way to engage in cardiovascular activity and improve strength in a low impact environment. For this reason, swimming is a great choice to improve fitness as it is an all-over body workout while building endurance and muscle strength. Melbourne Sports Centres MSAC houses world-class aquatic facilities (and even hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2006). We welcome all swimmers from babies who are learning to swim, adults looking to learn for the first time or improve their stoke all the way through to our new squad program for competitive swimmers.

MSAC has proudly helped thousands to swim with a goal of swimming for leisure (with confidence) or engaging in competitive swimming.

COMPETITIVE SWIMMING (SQUADS):

MSAC has been the venue of choice for professional swimmers to train over the years including Michael Klim, Grant Hacket, Giaan Rooney, Mack Horton and more.

MSAC is proud to announce its new Squad offering, allowing swimmers who are interested in entering the competitive swimming arena, pathways to do so.

Our unique competitive swimming training model is designed to take passionate talented swimmers right through to elite athlete status. We employ specialist coaches both in and out of the pool to ensure we give our training participants every opportunity to reach their potential and personal goals.

Development Squad:

The first level of our competitive swimming program, this level is introducing participants to racing. Attending regular encouragement meets to test their skills and love of the sport, this group of swimmers is learning the technical requirements and etiquette of training and racing whilst refining their competitive swimming techniques.

State Development Squad:

Participants in this level are refining their skills into race efficiencies and striving towards racing state qualifying times. The increased training regime allows coaches to refine, speed, technique and individual stroke focuses for athletes. Learning to train.

State Squad:

Participants in this level have state qualifying times and are working relentlessly towards national qualifying times. Again the increased training model for this group of athletes sees their sessions structured over the week to polish their skills in every session to ensure their stroke efficiencies and constant improvement. Training to train

National Squad:

Participants in our national training squad have registered state qualifying times, and are working well on the way to elite athlete status. The level of commitment in this training group is second to none from both our participants and coaches staff, the combined focus is on striving towards State and National Representation. Training to compete.
